Answering the Call: My Journey into Bereavement Doula Work

When we first dreamed up Meira Moon Collective, we envisioned it as a space where women could come exactly as they are — messy, beautiful, grieving, growing, learning, healing. It was built on a deep calling I felt to serve women through the raw, real experiences of motherhood — not just the joyful ones, but the devastating ones too.

That call grew even stronger as we began hearing more and more stories from women in our own community navigating pregnancy loss. Stories of heartbreak, trauma, and — most painfully — isolation. We realized quickly that while so many women were enduring unimaginable loss, they were doing so without the support, resources, or understanding they deserved.

It was during this time that I learned something that changed everything: you can become a doula specifically for pregnancy and infant loss — a bereavement doula. I knew right away that this was the work I was meant to step into. I dove headfirst into my training, completing my certification just before the birth of my fifth earthly child.

While I cherished and honored my own postpartum period, the need for bereavement support in our community only became more apparent. Time and time again, I heard heartbreaking stories of women and families suffering silently, without a guide to walk alongside them.

That is why I offer bereavement doula support — to create a space for grieving mothers and families to feel seen, held, and honored in the midst of loss. Whether it's through miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss, my work is about bearing witness to each family’s unique grief journey and offering gentle, informed support through some of their darkest moments.

At Meira Moon Collective, motherhood isn’t defined by a live birth or the number of children in your arms. It’s defined by the love you carry. It’s defined by the lives you hold in your heart. We are committed to building a community where every part of motherhood — even the parts marked by grief — are recognized and supported.

If you or someone you love is walking through pregnancy or infant loss, please know: you are not alone. I am here to offer support, resources, and a hand to hold. Your grief is sacred. Your story matters.

With love and compassion,

Jenn
