What Does a Village Look Like in Motherhood Today?

There’s an old saying: It takes a village to raise a child. But in today’s world, where many of us are far from family, juggling work, responsibilities, and personal struggles, what does that village actually look like?

For generations, motherhood was intertwined with community. Women raised their children alongside sisters, mothers, grandmothers, and friends. There was always someone to hold the baby while you rested, to offer wisdom when you felt lost, or simply to sit beside you in the long, exhausting moments of early parenthood.

But modern motherhood can feel isolating. Many of us don’t live near family. We’re expected to do it all—work, parent, keep a home, maintain friendships, and somehow still take care of ourselves. The pressure to be a ‘supermom’ is immense, and the weight of doing it alone can be overwhelming.
